I was able to get my hands on an advanced copy of Nick Nurse’s new book, Rapture. The book recounts Nurse’s improbable journey to becoming the head coach of a World Champion NBA team.
🏀This was a great read combining sports, coaching/leadership and the lessons of hard work and persistence. Nurse globe-trotted his way around the world, learning about #basketball and #business while attempting to build his #coaching career (I didn’t know he had actually owned a basketball team!). He’s an incredible individual who could have succeeded to anything he put his mind to and it’s obvious in his indentation of different avenues to pursue his own interests – including getting VHS NBA games shipped to Europe so he could study the game and cold calling an arena to try to start a developmental team in that city.
🏀The best part of the book was seeing the #strategies he innovated in his young career with European and Development League teams re-appear in the Raptors championship run proving that if you learn your lessons throughout the process, you can reach the pinnacle. There was also some great information about his time as a shooting coach that I won’t spoil but includes an innovative product.
